Visual Communicator/Graphic Designer


  • Permanent part-time role - 2 or 3 days a week, flexible

  • Remote, home based

  • £35k pro rata per annum, plus pension

  • 28 days holidays including bank holidays plus additional holiday for your birthday, Christmas shut down and two ‘me’ days a year


Who are we?

We’re an internal communications consultancy, helping organisations communicate digital transformation, major IT change and cyber safety to their people in a straightforward way. We specialise in working with the education sector - one of the biggest sectors to be impacted by digital transformation at the moment.


Our small team of internal communication, change and engagement experts are dispersed across the UK. We work remotely, and always will (even when/if Covid goes away), but we catch up daily on video calls, are always on chat with each other and meet in person at least once a quarter.


What’s the job?

We’re pretty good when it comes to words, but we need someone to help us tell our stories with pictures - still and moving - so we’re looking for a visual communicator/graphic designer to join our team.


Whether it’s helping us to look smarter with sleek presentations and a more creative digital presence on socials, to producing eye catching campaigns and collateral for our clients; you’ll be able to create some great things with us, and help us bring our words to life.


What kind of person are we looking for?

We’re a pretty sound bunch who have our own specialist skills and expertise, but we all pitch in and help each other whenever we need to. Working in a small team (you’d be employee number five), this is a really important part of how we work so you’d need to be up for collaborating, sharing and being an all round good egg.


As a remote organisation, you’ll need to be ok with working alone from a place of your choosing. You’ll need to be a self-starter and someone who can manage your time. We never miss a deadline and we take pride in surprising and delighting our clients along the way.


You should be degree educated (or equivalent) with at least five years’ experience in an in-house or agency role. Using this experience, we want you to bring your best ideas and not be afraid to stand for something you believe in.


What skills are we looking for?

As our in-house visual communicator and graphic designer, your role will be to bring our words and strategies to life. Skills wise, you should be able to take a brief, come up with creative concepts and then apply them using your design and videography skills. Bonus if you’re interested in photography and animation too.


You will be an expert in using industry standard graphic design/videography software including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign as well as After Effects and Premiere Pro. You'll also be well versed in preparing jobs for print and managing the print process.

We're all client-facing at Inside Out, so you'll be used to working directly with clients and managing these relationships well. 

As well as all these mandatory technical skills, we're looking for someone who can manage their own time and workload, and is a self-starter.
